Puppy Academy

Getting your puppy groomed isn't just a cute thing to do, it’s an essential part of their training and should be as important as teaching your dog to sit. Arriving at your groomers with an unruly 6, 9 or even 12 month old puppy and expecting a good groom is both unrealistic and unfair to both your dog and your groomer. We have to introduce them to the bath, high velocity (very noisy!) dryers, brushes, combs, noisy clippers, nail clippers AND show them that having scissors around their face and eyes is okay. That is a lot to do and becomes more and more difficult and stressful for both your dog and your groomer the older your puppy becomes. So please make visiting a groomer part of your puppies education. Puppies can visit from just 2 weeks after their final puppy vaccinations 🙂 Puppy grooming includes a nice warm bath and a cuddle dry with dryer on low to get them used to the noise with plenty of reassurance. Next up they will be brushed and we trim their face, feet and hygiene areas. Also a nail trim and clean ears. They will get a spray of doggy cologne and a bow/bandana then we can spoil your puppy with playtime, treats and big hugs so they can associate their visit with good things. It is recommended to bring your puppy in for regular grooming every 4-6 weeks to get them used to the grooming process. Then by the time they are old enough for a full groom they should be little angels on the table. Puppy grooms start at £30 depending on breed, size, age etc or check out the info about our Puppy Academy where you pay a one off fee for 4 grooms with some super cute extras.
